Friends, I am back on my blog again after a very long break.Was taking a long break before and after my mariage.....Hmm !!!
And I can not get better come back than this, with a post from one of my interesting field - Cricket.....Hero Honda Cup 2009 , 5th ODI.

Yes , he is an absolute Genius - The Sachin Tendulkar.
175 of 144 balls , and leading the game from front.The way he played yesterday was like a fresher who somehow got a chance to play for India and he new that if he wont play this match he wont get another chance to prove himself. Gosh , what a game...........huh.
The confidence he had to win this match was just unbelievable.

When he became the first batsman to score 50 hundreds in international cricket, Sachin Tendulkar established himself as the greatest of all Indian cricketers. Recognised by Sir Donald Bradman as his modern incarnation, Tendulkar has a skill – a genius – which only a handful have possessed. It was not a skill that he was simply born with, but one which was developed by his intelligence and an infinite capacity for taking pains. If there is a secret, it is that Tendulkar has the keenest of cricket minds.His bravery was proved after he was hit on the head on his Test debut in Pakistan, when he was only 16; and his commitment to the Indian cause has never been in doubt. If captaincy – or rather the off-field management of men less skilled than himself – was beyond him at his first attempt, his reading of the game, and his manifold varieties of bowling, have shown the same acute intelligence. His cricket has been played in the right way too, always attacking, and because he knew that was the right way rather than because he was a child of the one-day age, as he himself modestly said. The awe of opponents was as great as that of crowds. But the finest compliment must be that bookmakers would not fix the odds – or a game – until Tendulkar was out.

Though India lost the match , but WE[me and wife] decided to convince our self that India won this match...he he he , and believe me WE are able to do so....for WE.For us India won by less than 4 runs.....:-)

T-Mobile USA will reveal the first phone to use Android, Google's software platform.

Research firm Strategy Analytics estimates that T-Mobile could sell 400,000 phones this year, giving Google about 4 percent of the US market for ''smart'' phones, a category dominated by Research in Motion Ltd.'s BlackBerry phones with tough competition from Apple Inc.'s iPhone, Palm Inc.'s Treos and Centros and various phones running Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Mobile software

The new phone, called the G1 according to T-Mobile's invitation, is widely expected to be a design from HTC Corp. of Taiwan, which has made a name for itself by making smart phones that use Windows Mobile software. Based on previous Google demos of its software, it's assumed that it will have a touch screen and a slide-out, full-alphabet keyboard.

The phone would sell for $199 and carry the Google brand. It's likely that the phone will go on sale in a few weeks.

Google has an advantage its competitors lack: a world-beating advertising system that turned it into a multibillion-dollar company in the space of a few years. If Android can translate Google's success in Web advertising to the phone, carriers could get a cut of the revenue.

Wireless operators have been looking for more than a decade at making the cell phone an welcoming place for advertisers.In particular, they want to make use of the ability of cell phones to locate their users and provide ads keyed to that location.

Indian tricolour fluttered in the backdrop, as Neelam Deo, the country’s consul general in New York rung the closing bell at the world’s largest stock exchange NASDAQ, which celebrated India’s 62nd Independence day on Friday.
This was the first time that a consul general has rung the closing bell at the stock market in a prestigious ceremony, which marks the recognition of a fast growing Indian economy.
Outside the exchange, the huge electronic board, which overlooks the historic Times Square and displays quotations during the day was also lighted in saffron, white and green colours, with the words “India Independence Day”.

But is that Enough ????? I am asking this question to me and you can also ask who am I to stop u asking.....

61 years on, as we look back, we must ask ourselves two pertinent questions. Where have we come? Where are we going? Would those men and women, who died to rid us of oppression, would they be satisfied at the progress we have made? Or would they once again, prepare for a new andolan?A nation, which had once been described as "a functioning anarchy" by noted economist JK Galbraith, is now being showered with the choicest of praises. Yet, as we look through these phrases, we see that there is more to be achieved. Where we create the largest amount of millionaires per capita we consistently rank at the bottom half of the UNDI (UN Development Index). Where we have the largest middle-class in the world, we are also home to the largest levels of illiteracy. Where we have world renowned institutions such as IISc, TIFR, IIT, we also have children who study in woefully inadequate classrooms. Where we have a Muslim President administering the oath to a Sikh PM belonging to a party headed by a Roman Catholic to serve a population of 800 million Hindus, we have at the very same time, politicians claiming to decide who will be allowed to reside in a particular state and the means by which they shall reside.
We have, for long enough, put up with policies which while claiming to provide social equality, strips our countrymen of their very identity. We have for long enough, put up with voices who seek to divide us. To use Barrack Obama's words, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. I say to them, there is not a BJP India or a Congress India, there is the Republic of India. There is not a North India, a South India, a North-East India, there is the Republic of India. There is not a Hindu India, a Muslim India, a Sikh India, there is the Republic of India. There are people also seek to fragment our states, by drawing Orange states and White States, Orange for the NDA/BJP and White for the UPA/INC. I have news for them too. We say "Id Mubarak" in the Orange states, and we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in the White States with equal fervour. We fill up RTI applications in the Orange States and we support those who are less fortunate than us in the White States. We celebrate the success of Irfan Khan Pathan in the Orange states and we reminisce the works of Vijay Tendulkar in the White states. We are immensely saddened when terror hits the Orange states, and we are relieved when a terrorist is sentenced to death in the White states. We are all one, pledging allegiance to the Republic of India.

In finishing, we are standing at the precipice of an unheralded moment in history. Already, the media is filling us with the optimism that this century will be known as the Asian Century, and there are parallels being drawn with the "Indian Elephant" and the "Chinese Dragon". As we begin the 62nd year of Independence, let us recall the facts. We have around 250-300 million people between the ages of 15-35. That includes many of you as well. This population is more than ten times the entire population of Australia and comparable with the population of the United States. Which power on earth can stop us if we all decide to achieve to the best of our abilities? For far too long now, India has been spoken of as "getting there" and "emerging superpower". When shall we "get there" and be "a Superpower". I don't know about you all, but I want it to be in my lifetime. Else, the debt that I owe to those who fought for a free India, will be a "promissory note returned marked insufficient funds".Swami Vivekananda once said "Give me a few young men, and I shall change the face of this nation". I am putting my hand up now, anyone willing to join me?

Good Morning India.......

I must say I did not had such pleasant morning for a long time, specially on Sunday.

Thanks to “The Times of India” for making me so happy with my cup of tea today. as I totally lost my concentration from the tea and I totally lost into this article on the very First page.

And it forced me to blog early this morning..........

The Class of 2008.

It’s a class unlike other.

The children won’t come in with handkerchiefs neatly pinned on uniform pockets. But in clothes that probably bear stains of soot or grease.

What you teach here isn’t something that’ll help a child get to the next class.

But to a future free of poverty and deprivation.

Learning won’t happen from testbooks.

But from pages borrowed from your life and often, from the lives of the student themselves.

You don’t get paid here.

Yet you will return home each day with riches no remuneration can match.

Come to think of it, you’ve never seen a classroom this size.

The walls after all, are the four corners of your country.

And when a child from this class passes, the nation will graduate.

From being the world’s largest illiterate population to the world’s largest literate workplace.

So whoever you are, whatever you do, here’s calling out to the teacher in you.

My Trip to Hong Kong

The hectic trip to Hong Kong.

I was on my official trip to Hong Kong.

Briefing the trip in couple of post….

Firstly,I must thank Jet Air for providing the empty seat next to me as I utilized that for sleeping. I did not enjoy the Jet in-flight entertainment as I preferred sleeping.

When I woke up, saw plane was flying just 1000 meter over the sea.

The beauty of Hong Kong (HKG) starts from its airport itself. If you are a first time traveler to HKG like me, then you will feel that your plane is landing on the sea as the runway is attached to the seashore, oh God it was just awesome. I was humming “ye kahan aa gaye hum…….”And then the other best experience was catching the Metro inside the airport to go and collect the baggage.

I felt jittery when at the immigration counter while answering the question as it was VISA on arrival, and that person was looking at me ironically.I was little worried as it was my first travel and hence the passport was new for VISA stamp. But anyways got my VISA and moved into the country.

The 1 Hr drive from airport to The Bay Bridge Hotel was enough for an Indian like me to compare the two countries. I tried to convince myself by giving various useless, meaningless and sometime nonsense reasons, that India is better(Kyonki dil hai hindustani).But most of the time I was getting really difficult convincing.

So the fact is, technically they are far ahead and much better in terms Infrastructure. This was my conclusion after that 1 Hr drive.

Believe me ,

I was always trying to find animals, specially cows and dogs on the Hong Kong roads to feel better comfortable and homely, but can’t.

I was always trying to get no response from a Taxi driver when I was waving my hand for lift , but always feeling sad when they were giving good response every time and making me to justify my own India. I am used to ask minimum 5 auto driver every day every time to take me to the office and from office to home in Mumbai, so having said that isn’t it Hong Kong better…..

I was always trying to stuck into the traffic jam, But never find one in my entire stay in Hong Kong. The only reason is “Everyone in Hong Kong not only remember but also follows Rules of the Road knowledge which they learnt in 1^st standard ”.But most of us just remember those rules to pass on to our children when they come in 1^st standard. So having said that isn’t it Hong Kong better…..

I was always feeling awful when I was leaving office late night (around 3-4 in the morning) and the cabby was waiting at traffic signal when there was Red light. As we used to break the signal when we find no one is observing me. Having said that isn’t it Hong Kong better…..

I was always feeling awful when every day I was paying the same meter bill to the different cabby for my travel from office to hotel and vice versa. Because within India if you travel different state and the auto/taxi driver knows that you are new to the city, then……..shall I elaborate or you got it. Hope you got it.

I must write an incident related to this.On a particular day I hired a cab to take me from office to Hotel around 5 AM in the morning.Unfortunatly the cabby was not able to locate the address and he followed the wrong route and miter reading came almost double from the usual day.I paid him for his meter reading but the cabby returning me some money and taking exactly which I used to pay every day. Saying it was his fault that he could not locate the place.I really felt hard to digest this as there were no Hajmola. If you are also not able to digest then take some Hajmola. So having said that isn’t it Hong Kong better……..

I am also feeling sad writing this for my lovely India , but what to do. I believe “To compete you have to compare , and compare with the best”.But that does not mean ,India is behind them in all means.Will be posting the good part of India comparing to HKG in my next post.

Well, now get out from all these and let me write about some famous places in HKG.

One of the busiest suburbs of Hong Kong is Mong Kok, where you will find Ladies Market.
It’s an outdoor street market with loads and loads of stalls where you can buy anything from ladies purse ,a Copy Rolex to Vegetable peeler.
Its got a wonderful atmosphere, and some of the stalls sell quite interesting stuff, and others just weird stuff, but interesting none the less.
Its a great place to go shopping for stuff to take home to friends and family. Some of the stalls also sell the usual souvenirs found in shops.

As I mentioned you can buy anything, the most common things to obtain are copy merchandise. Ladies Market is also popular place to buy copy goods. For example, if you want to buy a copy watch you will see a stall with brochures on the table, if you page through the brocures, someone will normally some stand next to you to ask you what type of watch you want. They are normally up for negotiation if you are not happy with their price. Dont be afraid if they tell you to follow them to their "showroom". They just take you up a apartment block to where they keep their stock. Many different copy handbags are also a common purchase amongs tourists.
Other goods available are stuff like alarm clocks, sports bags, jeans, shirts etc.

The stall owners are usually good sales people and will try their best to sell you a product. They are also happy to reduce prices if you bargain with them.
Many times the seller does not speak very good English, so when negotiating prices they will punch the amount into a calculator, let you have a look and then hand you the calculator so you can tell them what you are prepared to pay, very interesting actually!

Apathy, the true reason of falling

Well , I am still newbie to this stock market's RED and GREEN.
When Sensex was roaring at 21-22k and Nifty was barking at 6k, I started feeling that this is a good way of making money if you have some leisure......but hold on...the truth is, it is not a game to play in the leisure , otherwise everyone would have played.It's a game to be played very seriously...buy me for this.

I have seen the seesaw of the market in such a short span of time.....I feel so lucky to believe and live in reality......do not go wild.

I still remember those days....every morning waking up and watching that Global market falling but our market breaking its own records of 19k,20k,21k......and 22k, and we use to laugh and amuse saying "India market ko kisi se koi matlab nahi hai[Indian market does not depend on others]".But there was a day when our finance minister's one line statement on P-Note bringing the market into the lower circuit.....hmm for me it was "Please-Note such things can happen". Gosh can't forget that.

Then after making clarification on the P-Note thing , we again started roaring and barking irrespective of the global market.
But I do remember , when it touched 21k+ people started talking about the past market CRASHing stories.But the same people also believing that....no no this will not happen , graph is rising because our fundamentals are getting stronger and stronger........Hmm I see :-)

Then we started dreaming to open an Investment Company , not only that but we started giving the free training.....[India me muft ke advice bahut milte hai......Rohan Isn't it True :-)]

Then comes 21st Jan , the Black day of the Indian stock market.......market coming into the lower circuit.I was laughing.....when I saw some stupid news channels were giving the reason to that Bull statue which was kept in front of the BSE office on 21st :-)

And from there on we are keep falling....21k,20k,19k,18k,17k,16k,15k........what Next ????

What Next ???
Yes, this is the question hunting and eating everyone's apathy.
No one is willing to buy........and thats the reason its keep falling.

But the kind of experience I hagot from past , I feel my self a lucky champ as I participated in both side of the game....the seesaw game.....:-)

Budget for Poor

Considering the fact that India is becoming reacher and reacher year by year we should not forget the poor India.When I say poor India I am talking about those who are really poor. I am not even considering middle and lower middle class because I am also belong to a middle class family and i have seen so many budget and I know a middle class somehow manages.But It really makes me to think how the poor manages.My "poor" means a real poor , family of one earning man/women hardly making 20-30 Rs a day and manage to feed 4-5 members of the family.

I have seen the CNN-IBN award function where peoples were asking questions to "CNN-IBN politician of the year".
Ironically , all asked question were moving around the middle class, higher middle class and upper class.People were talking about reducing tax and all....Huh.Some time I really doubt that anyone thinking about those "poor".

So if I have to ask for the budget I would expect more subsidy for the "poor" people ,identifying their real need and making sure that they can bye them in the money what they make...20-30 Rs/day.

I do not expect anything for me from this budget because I know somehow I can manage.But I really worry for them.

My dad was a big follower or I say a big fan of “Bapu” and the believer in “Satya paresan ho sakta hai , parajit nahi”.He used to call me “Bapu” during my childhood, though during those days I had no much idea about the so called “Bapu”. Then my teacher who used to come home to teach me, was also a big follower of “Bapu”, tells me the story of “Bapu”.

From there I got my interest in “Bapu”. But in the beginning whenever “Bapu” comes in my mind the only other words come was “Satya and Ahinsa”.

Year back I bought my copy of autobiography “The Story of My Experiments with Truth”. I can not express my feeling of the reading. The only thing I can say is, please do not read that book you have to feel that book.

Very rare people writes bad thing about themselves in their autobiography. But during reading “The Story of My Experiments with Truth” one would feel what I am trying to say.

Sixty years after he was assassinated, Gandhi lives. Not just in textbooks and speeches but also through his autobiography The Story of My Experiments with Truth which continues to sell an incredible 200,000 copies a year.[courtesy CNN-IBN].That shows love for Gandhi and his ideology has not faded even 60 years after his death.

There are only two opinions regarding his murder. One says it was bad and the other says it was good. But I am from the former who believes “A murder can not be a reason of good”.

But having said that, now I decided to bye a copy of “The Men Who Killed Gandhi” and the other one “Lets Kill Gandhi” to see the other opinion.

8 + 5 = 11 ? ,Yes , Yes Yes !!! 8 + 5 = 11.

We have found our Ishaan in Nitin’s form.

He amused us, but he was jittery and sticky for sometime but later he giggled then myself and Rohan had hilarious laugh…after convincing him 8 + 3 = 11.
Then we decided he is going to be our Ishaan.

Coming back to the movie !!

Ironically , Taare Zameen Par is so vast and meaningful in its script that the film not only depicts the life of a single child but takes all those children into its ambit who struggle in this world to survive and who want to explore but their curiosity is killed because of the same old theoretical way to teach children.

The story is straightforward and instantaneously gels with each grown-up person and kid in the theatre. Even as the high point is unsurprising and plays closely on your sentiment, but what pushes the film is its very plain, and sensitive storyline and the acting. The script is not traditional, which has some bad characters. It is the depiction of Ishaan (Darsheel), who trapezes between problems of dyslexia and his wonderful world of imagination. And holding it all together is Aamir Khan, who delivers a spell bounding performance as a teacher.Aamir has brilliantly portrayed the mysterious, magical child who suffers from dyslexia.

He has sent waves around Bollywood, providing an answer to ‘can actors be good directors?’ Well they truly can, this is what Aamir has prove to the industry and the audience also with Taare Zameen Par.

Hats of to his savvy.

I will not give 4-5 stars to this movie but I give all *****STARS***** to this movie as I found it so touching.

Hurdle for FII Bulls…..Well done SEBI

Well , making money is not as easy as the FIIs thought.

They have been caught because their bulls were running unexpectedly and our Indian bulls were not able to compete with them.

C'mon it is quite obvious……Rs vs $.

But anyways…..thank to the SEBI finally putting some hurdle for them.

I should not say it’s a hurdle, I should say putting some rules.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on Thursday announced new rules for foreign investments through financial instruments such as Participatory Notes (P-Notes).

The market regulator has asked the Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) to wind up P-Notes for investing in derivatives within 18 months.

SEBI announced the decision after a meeting of the Board, which also approved imposing curbs on P-Notes for investing in spot market. The new norms will come into effect from Friday.

In derivatives, FIIs and their sub-accounts cannot issue fresh P-Notes and will have to wind up their current position in 18 months, he said.

In spot market, FIIs will not be allowed to issue P-Notes more than 40 per cent of their assets under custody. The reference date for calculating such assets will be September 30, SEBI said.

The provision will come into effect from close of trading hours on Thursday.

Those FIIs who have issued P-Notes of more than 40 per cent of their assets, could issue such instruments only if they cancel, redeem, or close their existing P-Notes. Those FIIs who have issued P-Notes less than 40 per cent of their assets under custody can issue additional instruments at the rate of five per cent of their assets.

The War Ends......

I'm good at convincing myself that I'm really happy when I'm not.

Well, I’ve been so excited for this World cup from the beginning.
Had lots of plan though I was not supposed to do those for various reasons.
Announced an open treat for GokartinG followed by Lunch , if Ganguly becomes the man of the match.**

**Eligibility criterion was to put Ganguly’s wallpaper on their desktop/notebook PC.[As there is nothing called FREE LUNCH ].

But we lost our first match against whom….I m not gona tell you that.
As I'm good at convincing myself , I did saying BLUE will win other two matches.

We won the second match….against whom…I m not gona tell you again.
I was very happy though it was not a big reason but still thought of sharing and cheering.So did with CADBURY among colleagues.

But now……

It's been nearly 15 days since the Cup began, but I think it was only after watching India lose to Sri Lanka and limp out of the tourney, that I felt compelled, or let's say, felt really awful and moved sufficiently to write something on the goings-on and close this world cup chapter from my side at least.

To get this out of the way, I'll say that it was a disappointing way to go out for the team, which had shown the ability to live up to promise, playing effective cricket without riding on sensational individual performances. As I watched the dismemberment of the top order, I was sad, even sympathetic, at what was happening. There have been so many occasions in the past, when I have felt anger at Indian losses, but against Lanka, the sense of helplessness that pervaded the batting effort could not evoke such strong emotions.

The most common comments that I've read so far are "the lack of accountabilityof the players to the people" and "players are interested only in making money" and others expressing the same sentiment.

I had always expected the team to win. Even when they got themselves into a tangle by coming out under-cooked mentally against Bangladesh. Perhaps I'm too lenient, but the first thought that came into my mind was that they had an off-day, and they would surely bounce back from it.

Today, I realized that I was wrong, not because they could not bounce back, but because in a tournament with the format this one has, off-days are blunders, and more likely than not, fatal.

Unfortunately, due to a number of reasons I have not been able to analyse all the teams, however, I haven't been busy enough to miss the opportunity to express my opinions on my beloved Team India when my Ganguly is IN. What follows is my brief preview of India's outlook at cricket's flagship tournament.

On the back of this talk, one would be led to believing that the Indians were shoo-ins for the World Champions tag. Don't get me wrong, I think Team India has as good a chance as any of going home with the silverware. However, in my view this World Cup is going to be all about the batsmen who have the grit and gumption to play the waiting game and bowlers who bowl less than express pace but have an uncanny ability to keep nagging away, ball after ball after ball.

The old heads will undoubtedly try their damnedest to ensure a focussed and lethal outfit stays on course. This tournament is ripe for Tendulkar and Ganguly to put everyone else to shame, for one final time as a pair. With generous help from Dravid, somehow, I think they might even manage it.

This version of Team India has a lot of talent, spirit and fight. They will need to display all these qualities in unison and with intent. I sincerely hope they will win the trophy and I also believe that they have a better chance than most.

My top 4 teams for the semi-finals would be India, Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka. From this stage, it can be Team India’s World Cup.

Then comes the Man of this World Cup Series….Ohhhh , its quite Interesting.

Google Babies............

Dear All,

In the six years since, Google's search index has grown to include an estimated 8 billion pages, and there are no signs of a slowdown. Obviously, with so many pages to sift through, finding exactly what someone's looking for on the Web is far from an easy task, even for google.

What say?

That's why google came up with custom search engine concept ( I guess most of you are aware ), where you can focus on a narrow slice of the Web, are sprouting up like mushrooms after a fresh monsoon shower.

Ahh so tasty!!

So I decided to create two baby googles.

Finally, A must eat Apple!!

Was always wondering, that these guys ( Apples’ ) are so smart , then what they are waiting for to deliver my kind of device.
I must thank Apple to deliver a device which I was looking for a year or so.
I was strongly against carrying two palm devices, one for music ( iPod ) and other for communication ( cell phone ).
Always thinking why not someone is just adding more stuff to this “Pod” to make it fill, so that one can carry a single Pod which provides everything, or close to everything.

And I guess Jobs read my mind and FINALLY……………..

iPhone users will be able to make calls while viewing content on the Web and exchanging e-mail — at the same time.

Apple expects the all-in-one device — which houses Apple's OS X operating system and Google Maps, among several features — to make an immediate impact in the burgeoning market for cellphones worldwide.

Jobs predicted Apple will sell about 10 million iPhones, or about 1% of the worldwide market, by 2008. Oh…that is damn good.The iPhone could get more people to buy iPods , isn’t it ??? Buy an iPhone which has iPod inside.

The iPhone is certainly a looker: super thin, touch-screen, closer in appearance to a Nano than a Treo and combines a mobile phone, widescreen iPod and Internet capabilities.

Some features:

As an iPod. Using your finger, you can navigate the device's 3.5-inch display. You can watch podcasts, TV shows, movies — and, of course, listen to music and audiobooks. You can also rapidly scroll through album covers using the clever Cover Flow feature on iTunes. But you cannot wirelessly download music purchased off iTunes. Instead, you connect or dock the device as with any iPod.

As a phone. Touch a name or number in your address book to dial the phone. Or you can use a virtual onscreen keypad. Other goodies. The phone includes sensors that detect when you rotate it from portrait to landscape mode; the onscreen controls are oriented accordingly. Lift the phone to your ear, and the sensor turns off the display to save power and prevent you from accidentally hitting the wrong controls when on a call. Friends , currently I am reading a book “The Google Story”.

It is goddamn exciting , the google story.
I will not tell you the whole story b’coz it is better to read your own.

But just let me brief the name story of GOOGLE.

A googol is 10 to the 100th power (which is 1 followed by 100 zeros). A googol is larger than the number of elementary particles in the universe, which amount to only 10 to the 80th power.
The term was invented by Milton Sirotta, the 9-year nephew of mathematician Edward Kasner, who had asked his nephew what he thought such a large number should be called. Such a number, Milton apparently replied after a short thought, could only be called something as silly as a "googol."

Later, another mathematician devised the term googolplex for 10 to the power of googol - that is, 1 followed by 10 to the power of 100 zeros. Frank Pilhofer has determined that, given Moore's Law (which is that computer processor power doubles about every 1 to 2 years), it would make no sense to try to print out a googolplex for another 524 years - since all earlier attempts to print a googolplex out would be overtaken by the faster processor.

And here comes the laughter.....

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the founders of Google, named their search engine after the term googol. In 1997, Larry was brainstorming names with other Stanford graduate students, including Sean Anderson, and looking at available domain names. Anderson miskeyed googol as "google" and found it available. Larry liked it and the name "Google" stuck. Google's corporate headquarters is called the GooglePlex, an affectionately tongue-in-cheek reference to the origins of the company name.

Think before you Link -- Crap rules

Here's a lump of coal for the entire Internet industry:

A Texas judge has ruled that linking to a Web page violates copyright. Declan McCullagh News.com reports that SFX Motor Sports has won a case against Robert Davis, a man who operates Supercrosslive.com, a website which linked directly to audio files of motorcycle races on SFX's website.
Here's a question for the Honorable Sam Lindsay, the North Texas U.S. District judge who decided the case:

Can you have a copyright violation if there's no copying involved?

Websites regularly link to other websites. No permission is needed, and no laws are broken. A 2000 case established the legality of "deep linking" into any page of a website. Take away the ability to link and you take away the basic glue that makes the Web work. You'd have no Yahoo (YHOO), no Google (GOOG), no blogs.

Any Web user could figure out the location of the files, and if SFX wanted to prevent people from going directly to the audio files, a trivially simple change in its Web server configuration could have stopped them from doing so.

How does prohibiting deep linking (last major precedent was the Scottish "Online newspaper" case) harm Google or Yahoo? It is easy not to have your site indexed past the front page, and SFX would love as much traffic as possible to its front page.

Well,
there is a difference to linking to a page, versus pulling specific content on that page to an unrelated website.
For example, what if I could link to your blog which when the link on my website was clicked on it would open a frame on my website that just showed the title and body of your article, and lets say I was able to market my website better, and surrounding your framed in article was advertising I was getting paid for.

I don't think you would be too excited about that happening.....we typically think of links as something being clicked on and taking us to a destination, not brining that destination to the current site, that is where the theft or infringement is occuring...and hence why the court ruled as it did. A mere reference to a website via a link to that website is not what the court is looking to ban, it is the theft or infringment of significant content that is in affect taken from another website.

Have you not tried yahoo or google's Image and Video search feature? It does basically the same thing, provide direct links to materials from a site. This ruling is totally ridiculous, and Mr. Davis is acting like a moron for trying to go against well trained "sharks". If this isn't overturned anytime soon, its going to have dire repercussions for the net.

Really, if a website wishes people to not be able to link their audio or video files, then configure it to where this can't happen. This is as simple as this!!

Think before you Link........cut cut cut!!! Think before you go to court.

Cholesterol – Without it, we could’t survive. But too much of this waxy substance in your blood can lead to heart disease, the number one killer of men and women in the United States. The higher your blood cholesterol, the greater your risk for developing heart disease and suffering a heart attack, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).
Every year, more than 1 million Americans suffer a heart attack and about 500,000 people die from heart disease. However, because high blood cholesterol does not cause any symptoms, many people (more than 50 percent by recent estimates) are either inadequately treated or unaware that their cholesterol level is too high. Considering that 41 million estimated American adults have high cholesterol (according to the American Heart Association), the failure to appreciate high cholesterol’s importance places many people at unnecessary risk for developing future heart disease.

What is cholesterol?

Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that is naturally found in all parts of our bodies. It is present in the walls and membranes of every cell, including cells in the brain, nerves, muscle, skin, liver, intestines, and heart. Without cholesterol, our bodies could not function properly. It acts as the backbone of hormones like estrogen and testosterone, vitamin D, and bile acids that help us to digest fat.
Cholesterol in the body comes from two major sources. The first is from the liver, which is the body’s major cholesterol-producing organ. We also consume foods that contain cholesterol – red meat and eggs have particularly high levels. Because the liver is usually able to make enough cholesterol to satisfy all of our bodily needs, however, too much dietary cholesterol can lead to high bodily levels of cholesterol. (Some liver disorders also lead to excess cholesterol levels.)
These high levels are undesirable because it is difficult for our bodies to appropriately dispose of excess cholesterol. Excess cholesterol has a tendency to deposit into the walls of our arteries, particularly the arteries that lead to our hearts (or coronary arteries). It is these deposits that lead to development of "hardening of the arteries," or atherosclerosis (see accompanying image).
Left untreated, atherosclerosis is a condition that causes progressive narrowing of the arteries. Narrowing may even occur to the point where the artery becomes either severely or completely blocked. If the blockage occurs in a coronary artery, you may have severe chest pain (called angina) or a heart attack. If the blockage involves an artery in the brain, you may have a stroke.

The difference between LDL and HDL cholesterol

Cholesterol does not travel freely in the bloodstream. Rather, cholesterol is carried through the blood by particles called lipoproteins. Cholesterol also behaves differently depending on which type of lipoprotein carries it. Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) deposit excess cholesterol on the artery linings (LDL cholesterol is the "bad" cholesterol), and high-density lipoproteins (HDL) remove excess cholesterol from the blood (HDL cholesterol is the "good" cholesterol). Triglycerides are another type of substance closely related to cholesterol. They are mostly carried throughout the bloodstream by particles called chylomicrons or very low-density lipoproteins (VLDLs). While less is known about triglycerides, in general, there is some evidence to suggest that they are a particularly important cause of coronary artery disease among women and people with other risk factors such as diabetes and obesity.
According to the new guidelines released in May 2001 by the NHLBI's National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP), everyone age 20 and older should have their cholesterol and triglyceride levels measured at least once every five years. This blood test is done after a nine- to 12-hour fast and provides information about your total cholesterol (TC), LDL and HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. If your total blood cholesterol is 200 milligrams (mg) per deciliter (dL) or more, or if your HDL level is less than 40 mg/dL, you should talk to your doctor about ways to lower your cholesterol, which may include changing your diet, increasing exercise, or medication.
HDL cholesterol protects against heart disease. This means that higher numbers of HDL cholesterol are better. A level less than 40 mg/dL is considered low and a major risk factor for the development of coronary artery disease. HDL levels of 60 mg/dL or more help to lower your risk for heart disease.
Triglycerides also can raise heart disease risk. Levels that are borderline high (150-199 mg/dL) or high (200 mg/dL or more) may require treatment for some people.
The NHLBI classification of the optimal level of LDL cholesterol is less than 100 mg/dL. Borderline high is 130-159 mg/dL, and very high is 190 mg/dL and above. High LDL cholesterol always requires attention. Your chance of developing coronary artery disease increases if you also have one or more other heart disease risk factors, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and/or an early family history of heart disease.
The following table shows the NHLBI's classification of all cholesterol levels.

Reducing your cholesterol

Lowering cholesterol is important for everyone, including younger, middle-aged, and older adults, and people with or without heart disease and/or stroke. Lowering cholesterol levels that are too high lessens the risk for developing heart disease and reduces the chance of a heart attack or dying of heart disease. This is especially true for people who have already suffered a heart attack.
There are several ways to treat high cholesterol. One option is known as therapeutic lifestyle changes (TLC), which includes a cholesterol-lowering diet (called the TLC diet), physical activity, and weight management. In some cases, it may be necessary to take cholesterol-lowering drugs together with TLC treatment to lower LDL cholesterol levels. Depending on what your LDL level is, your doctor will decide which approach is best for you. See Part 2 of the Cholesterol Patient Guide to learn more about how you can lower your cholesterol.

The two companies announced a partnership that will allow Suse Linux, the open-source operating system distributed by Novell, to work with Microsoft's (Charts) ubiquitous Windows software.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said the agreements aim to bridge the divide between open-source and proprietary source software, and will enhance interoperability between the two systems.

Ballmer is trying to become too smart by saying ""While we're going to compete, we're going to collaborate in the right way".

Ballmer....please speak the TRUTH.

Linux has been gaining ground, especially among corporate customers. Hardware vendors such as IBM (Charts), HP (Charts) and Dell (Charts) all sell servers that run Linux.

YouTube… it’s a good deal !!

Google's competitors are mostly still trying to figure out how to better take advantage of today's online advertising opportunity. Meanwhile, Google is already looking ahead to a still-to-come era when the Web links tightly with all other media.And so , the move towards video add is the first step towards that ear for Google.

Indeed, while last week's YouTube purchase was Google's largest, the second largest was January's $102 million acquisition of dMarc Broadcasting Services, a company with a successful automated system for placing ads on radio stations all over the country.

There are several remarkable facts in this acquisition:

Copyright issues, pirated content and YouTube often appear in the same sentence – and now that Google owns the company, you can only bet that they will be solved one way or another.
Google gets another foot in content hosting, after Gmail, Blogger and GoogleBase. They are not only about organizing the world’s information anymore – just in case you wondered.
YouTube will remain a separate operation, even physically, which seems to indicate that the risk of messing up the secret sauce post-acquisition has been considered.
Now that the leader (46% of the online video market) has been taken out, I can’t wait to see what happens next – especially as Yahoo was rumored to be involved in the deal until the last minute, and I am sure that Fox, Viacom, AOL and the others were not too far behind.
And looking ahead to next year, Yahoo could face a much tougher challenge from Google in so-called display advertising, sales of video ads, banners and other ads not tied to search results, thanks to Google's pending deal for YouTube.

JotSpot.....purchase targets Microsoft

Three-year-old JotSpot had developed a series of online productivity software programs that offer many of the functions of Microsoft Office programs like Microsoft Word or Excel spreadsheets. But instead of running on individual computers, JotSpot applications are delivered as Web-based services.
Following the lead of companies like JotSpot, Mountain View, Calif.-based Google entered the market this year by acquiring the Writely word processor and introducing other Web-based applications such as Google Spreadsheets and Google Calendar.
JotSpot's programs run on collaborative wiki software, a flexible form of Web publishing for groups that allows any approved user to edit or change individual documents.

The 27-employee company has helped popularize the idea that wikis are not just for software geeks but can be used within small groups by non-technical office workers or family groups to accomplish practical scheduling or financial tasks

Well , wonder what they were paid for JotSpot? It's got about 300,000 users, some of them paying, most of them not. Clearly, this wasn't YouTube money, but my guess is it wasn't Writely money either. Somewhere around $50-$75 million is my bet.

2 mini-releases (Beta) in Gooooooogle labs

Techies are buzzing today about a pair of Google mini-releases: a new search engine for open source software code, and an upgrade to the little-known Google Groups.

Google Blogoscoped is all over both, with plenty of praise for the open source code.

There are existing code search engines, but this one seems to top them in terms of scope, concludes the blog.But Blogoscoped yawns at the Groups application, which presumably takes aim at rivals Yahoo Groups: Google Groups mixes a usenet archive with Google's homegrown discussion groups anyone can create...the relaunch looks like a good start at first, but browse around a bit and you'll see there are still many design problems.

Well, Google engineers may not get it just right at first, but you've got to give them credit for sheer output. This is a prime example of what Fortune's Adam Lashinsky recently described as Google's "spaghetti method of product development.

I believe that Yahoo Mail is the worlds largest used e-mail service.

And it is there broadminded thinking that they planned to give away the underlying code to Yahoo Mail, one of the crown jewels of its business, in a bid to encourage software developers to build new applications based on e-mail.

The move to open up the underlying code of Yahoo Mail -- used by 257 million people -- is designed to spark development of thousands of new e-mail applications built not only by Yahoo (Charts) engineers but by outside companies and individuals.

Technically speaking, Yahoo is giving away "browser-based authentication" for its e-mail service for developers to build new applications. Currently only Yahoo Mail and certain broadband partners like AT&T (Charts) and BT are granted such access to the code.

This will allow people to make custom versions of the basic interface, or look, of e-mail. Other uses may include tapping the information inside a user's e-mail program to create new ways of displaying the information to individual users.

Since Yahoo keeps absolute control of usernames and passwords there are no security risks.

Yahoo is not alone in its effort to open up who can program Web services using its tools. Major Internet companies including Amazon.com (Charts), eBay (Charts) and Google (Charts) to established software providers such as IBM (Charts) and Microsoft (Charts) have embraced such moves.

Yahoo Mail's code will be generally available later in 2006 said Jason Rupp, product manager for Yahoo's e-mail services.

This could allow a "mash-up" to be created that permits users to simultaneously read Yahoo Mail, Google's Gmail and Microsoft's Hotmail from the same browser window rather than forcing users to sign into each e-mail system separately.

Well,

I am yet to complete my reading “Call to Honor” the Autobiography which had lots and lots of controversies around….

And got the other one !!!!

Huh…again an autobiography with bang bang bang of controvercies….."In the Line of Fire"

The very first Autobiography which I read was of Mahatma Gandhi's !!!
Now I am really eager to know that “if such kind of controversies arose during that period ???”
I read that !!! and I feel it was really informative.

I feel autobiographies are mostly written when the person concerned is no longer in office, and has the luxury of time, introspection and hindsight. Even so, most such works offer justifications more than honest self-analysis. An autobiography written while the person is still in office becomes an even more tricky proposition considering the recent autobiographies.

Here people just go around the controversies instead of taking GOOD out of the book.
I don’t see anybody who had come up saying “yes this is a great work done by Yeshwant Singh”.
But if I would say “He has done a great work by making others know about him”

I am yet to buy my copy of “In the Line of Fire” but this time I am prepare and aware of the controversies.

I'm talking about Musharraf the general, the army chief, the President, the architect of Kargil, the coup-maker, the Taliban supporter, and at later stage, the biggest opponent of Islamic militancy and extremism, the courageous advocate of peace with India, the man who is liberal at heart and wants to promote women's rights.

My take on "new" MSN search engine….

So finally Microsoft launched its new search engine.........

I was dazed after hearing this news coz personally did not expected that….

I was expecting one more Integration between Yahoo and Microsoft my so called “MicroYahoo” and that was their search engines integration….as couple of month ago they have integrated their chat messenger.

BUT anyways as they have come with their own New Search Engine , so as a Computer Geek we should feel HAPPY considering the fact that competitions are always good for Innovations!!!! Isn’t It ?

For them it is a strong move to acquire the market share in Web search as Google and Yahoo are ahead.

“Microsoft said it aims to improve the search experience by allowing for refined queries and presenting results on a new user-friendly interface”.

So for the above said statement I thought why not lets try this new search engine and compare it with my all time favorite Google’s search !!!!

So here I go :

I am going to search “Steve Irwin” in Microsoft’s and Google’s search and I will compare the results here.
But before I do that let me tell you what I expect from my search :

(1) It should return me the home page of “Steve Irwin” ( if he has one )
(2) If the personal web page dose not exist , than I would like to get some information about Steve Irwin from Wikipedia , the free encyclopedia
(3) As he was the famous star for Animal’s planet channel so I would like to get the link from Animals’ planet.
(4) I should get pages from Australian Zoo

Well , let me not expect more :)

And let me wish them to meet their expectations. We Miss You Steve (A Heart-Pounding Moment)

Steve Irwin!!! For the Globe he was known as “Crocodile Hunter.”

Steve was beloved by millions of fans and animal lovers around the world and was one of Animal planet's most passionate conservationists.

I rarely missed his episodes on the Animal Planet’s channel…..

Today morning when I came to know about this TRAGIC LOSS…..the very first thing came into my mind was “Good people gets very short life” !!!! Really a heart-pounding moment for me………..

Steve was killed during a filming expedition on the Great Barrier Reef. While we are still collecting specific details, it was a rare accident in which Steve swam over a stingray and was stung by its barb in his chest. A doctor on board Croc One, Steve's research vessel, was unable to resuscitate Steve and by the time he was reached by the rescue helicopter he had passed away.

Steve was a larger than life force. He brought joy and learning about the natural world to millions and millions of people across the globe. He was a true friend to all of us at Discovery Communications. We extend our thoughts and prayers to Terri, Bindi and Bob Irwin as well as to the incredible staff and many friends Steve leaves behind."

He is no more………..

Steve, from all God's creatures, thank you. Rest in peace.

I do not wanted to post this in early day , coz just now I reached office , but I could not control myself…..

What a F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C Friday morning , watching my all time favorite Agassi in the third round of US open , as this is his last US open.

Dunno whether he is going to make it to the final but for me it is just praying each match to move him ahead…..
Though it is difficult for me coz my next favorite Nadal is also here but what to do I am sorry Nadal let me pray for Agassi coz this his last US open …….hope you understand !!!!

Andre Agassi came through a dramatic encounter to beat Marcos Baghdatis in five sets at the US Open and so extend his career by at least one more match.

The 36-year-old, who retires after the event, upset the eighth seed 6-4 6-4 3-6 5-7 7-5 in the night match.
Agassi was superb in the first two sets but missed break points in the third and lost a 4-0 lead in the fourth.
With Baghdatis suffering cramp, Agassi recovered from a break down in the fifth and faces Benjamin Becker next.

"I felt so good today and what a time to feel it," Agassi told the crowd afterwards.

"This just means the world to me. All you guys refreshed my faith in the human spirit and I can't thank you enough for that."

Baghdatis played down his physical problems and paid tribute to the American.

"I'm OK," he said. "I want to wish Andre good luck, not only for this match but for his life.

With every match potentially his last, the Las Vegan is being heralded at every turn in New York.

A break point went begging in game three but there was no second chance for Baghdatis four games later and Agassi served out the set.

And when the American earned two break points in game seven of the third it looked like a repeat performance and a quick win for the twice former champion.

Indian state to ditch Microsoft software !!

The New York Times reports that the Indian state of Kerala has announced it will attempt to migrate all public offices away from Microsoft software:

"Naturally, being a democratic and progressive government, we want to encourage the spread of free software," said Kerala's education minister to the Times.

Kerala thus becomes the latest government to go activist on the software front, incongruously following the lead of Massachussets.

The news has provoked heated debate on Slashdot. Anticipating the pro-Microsoft response, one open-source advocate comments, tongue-in-cheek: "Remember, when downloading free software, you're downloading communism." To which another -- clearly in the minority -- responds with even more sarcasm: "Let's encourage all schools to not teach with Microsoft products... That way, when you graduate - you won't be prepared for the workforce, where most companies do use Microsoft."

Is Microsoft really in for an early death ?

I suspect that in five years I'll be hearing once more how Microsoft Office is doomed!

Why Pluto tossed out ????

Pluto, a planet since 1930, got the boot because it didn't meet the new rules, which say a planet not only must orbit the sun and be large enough to assume a nearly round shape, but must "clear the neighborhood around its orbit."
That disqualifies Pluto, whose oblong orbit overlaps Neptune's, downsizing the solar system to eight planets from the traditional nine.

The decision by the IAU, the official arbiter of heavenly objects, restricts membership in the elite cosmic club to the eight classical planets:

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

But when such kinds of things happen we feel sad, personally I really became emotional after hearing this news since yesterday on all the news channels. And according to the news channels what I heard , that was a really tough decision for that committee members which was formed in 2003 to redefine the definition of planet coz the definition which we learnt in our childhood was allowing some other three planets in solar family which was making the total count of 12.

And then after three years of hard work the committee redefines the definition of planets as

“a planet must be not only spherical, but also must have cleared away all other objects in its vicinity. Its gravitational force must either have either pulled them in and absorbed them or flung them away. The icy, distant bodies Pluto, Charon, and Xena orbit among thousands of other similar bodies in a region of the solar system beyond Neptune called the Kuiper Belt. Furthermore, Pluto's orbit overlaps Neptune's. Ceres circles among a large number of astreroids. In each case, these dwarfs are too small to exert enough gravity to give them more space.”

And according to this new definition the Pluto is tossed out of the Solar system.

C’mon the new idea of planets can be emotional because they're something we learn as children. Isn’t it ?

But somehow I tried to convince my self telling “this is really all about science, which is all about getting new facts , so this is all about move on to the new facts”.

The third object, Pluto's largest moon, Charon, isn't in line for any special designation.

"Eight is enough," he said, jokingly adding: "I may go down in history as the guy who killed Pluto."

The Quarter-Final second day…..Uff

Got cold , not keeping well but still 100% fit to watch both the matches.
The first one England Vs Portugal at 8:30 PM.

Portugal were playing really good game but still supporting England for my friend.

And finally Portugal won……so really a bad start for me coz the second match was of my favorite BRAZIL…..Brazil Vs France.

I was feeling so sleepy at 00:00 , thought lets go for sleep…..but the inner voice was keeping me awake telling Dude this is your favorite team , if you go for sleep you got to wait for another 5 year…..damn!!!

MICROSOFT is planning to bye YAHOO…..this is not my Falsetto!!!

Week ago I read this news on CNNMoney.com, and I was thinking "is that going to be a good deal…??"

And it was really a bad feel for me from Yahoo mails and Yahoo messenger since last week…that made me to think is that a good deal ??

Yahoo messengers’ last week behavior ….

We use it for our internal project communication….really it helps a lot, no doubt about that….but do you think that if you are giving something for free, you should not care about it…..???
Last week….within our team, all were not able to log in to yahoo messenger at the same time….only if one logged out the other can loggin….offf.
Then the other problem….I was able to send the message but the recipient was not getting that…..huh.

Yahoo mail this week behavior…..

Trying to send a 5 line mail to my friend’s id…..it was bouncing left and right….damn
Telling ID dose not exit….bull sit…and the very next day I was able to send on the same ID…..Finally.

Here I am not trying to tell that because of these two minor problems yahoo is not a good company.

I feel Yahoo is a Rocking company like Google but.....

I like its “Do You Yahoo” he he he

But why it is planning to merge ???

Now the merging with Microsoft….can still Yahoo’ens will say “Do You Yahoo” ??? I doubt !!!!

But anyways why Bill Gates so afraid of Google….???

Is that the reason he is planning to acquire the Yahoo.
And then their employ will say “Do You MicroYahoo”….he he he.

But “MicroYahoo” sounds even smaller that Yahoo in computer terminology(Micro).

You can use Google software with any Internet browser to search the web and your desktop for just about anything; send and store up to two gigabytes of e-mail via Gmail (Hotmail, Microsoft's rival free e-mail service, offers 250 megabytes, a fraction of that); manage, edit, and send digital photographs using Google's Picasa software, easily the best PC photo software out there; and, through Google's Blogger, create, post online, and print formatted documents--all without applications from Microsoft.

While Google was launching those products--all of them free--Microsoft has been trying in vain to catch up in search. It has spent about $150 million on its search project, code-named Underdog. But Google and lately Yahoo keep leaping ahead with innovations like local-area search complete with maps and satellite photos, ways to search inside a video file, and search designed for cellphones.
Simply put, Google has become a new kind of foe, and that's what has Gates so riled. It has combined software innovation with a brand-new Internet business model--and it wounds Gates' pride that he didn't get there first. Since Google doesn't sell its search products (it makes its money from the ads that accompany its search results), Microsoft can't muscle it out of the marketplace the way it did rivals like Netscape. There are fewer uses for the START button in Windows now that Google's desktop search can locate any program, document, photo, music file, or e-mail on a computer.
All of which helps explain why inside Microsoft, the battle with Google has become far more than a fight over search: It's a certifiable grudge match for king of the hill in high tech. "Google is interesting not just because of web search, but because they're going to try to take that and use it to get into other parts of software," says Gates as he leans forward in his chair, his body coiled as if he could spring to his feet at any second. "If all there was was search, you really shouldn't care so much about it. It's because they are a software company," he says. "In that sense," he adds later, "they are more like us than anyone else we have ever competed with."

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- It hasn't been a good month for Microsoft's Google-fighters. So bad that one left abruptly last week, and another decided this week to switch teams.
Vic Gundotra, a general manager for platform evangelism at Microsoft and a 15-year employee, has agreed to join Google after first spending a year working on charitable endeavors, Business 2.0 has learned.

"Mr. Gundotra has resigned from Microsoft and entered into an agreement with Google," Google spokesman Steve Langdon wrote in an emailed statement. "He will not be a Google employee for one year and intends to spend that time on philanthropic pursuits. We are uncertain what precise role he will play when he begins working for Google, but he has a broad range of skills and experience which we believe will be valuable to Google."Microsoft spokesman Tom Pilla confirmed Gundotra's departure and says that the executive has a noncompete agreement with Microsoft preventing him from working for a competitor for one year after leaving the company.

Wow here comes Nadal again……

Rafael Nadal……my new favorite since last year when he beat Federer in last year's French Open semi-final.

Yesterday with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-4, 7-6 victory over the Swiss star in the French Open final, the irrepressible Spaniard retained his title and became the first man to beat Federer in a Grand Slam final.

The match was Federer's first defeat in eight Grand Slam finals and his status as the world's best player is now under serious threat from Nadal.

Tennis is a non-contact sport but Nadal makes it feel like one. He has the presence of a clay court colossus, with biceps like cannonballs and a venomous look in his eye.

It was 12th May, I was having dinner to one of my colleague house….I found a book on his table named “The Da Vinci Code”….
My first thinking abt that book was quiet interesting :-)

Idea of this Project:

So I thought wow I found some novel which is something related to computer science.
I got so excited to read that book……then just turned around the pages and could not found any type of code syntax(c , c++,java) :) Then I thought what the hell there is no code….and it has 604 pages….quite interesting :)

However my colleague asked “how is it” I said wow quite interesting (Hindi:-man me bola kya bolun ise ki “you are dam reading code without a single line of code”) I just kept that book as it is haven’t discussed anything about this with anybody and came back to home and had a good sleep :-)

Then next day was Saturday and as usual I was watching news on my favorite news channel CNN-IBN….and guess what….channel was talking about the movie “The Da Vinci Code” Freak ?????? what the hell?????

I just switched off the TV and ran to my colleague house to grab that book first,
And I was so quick that I left my flat key inside and shut the door that was automatic lock and so I was without key…this was the first core dump (improper memory use) of my project “The Da Vinci Code”.

Anyways , I ran and asked my college “can I have this book for some day”….he got surprised and said sure sure… you would have taken it yesterday only(Hindi: phir maine man me bola …to chup kar yar yaha meri halat kharab hai book of code without a single line of code…..khud to padh ke bakara bana hoga aur ab mai bane wala hun)….

Anyways I got the book…called my made to get the extra room key…she is so sweet and caring she came and opened the room….

Now I just opened the first page of the book and I got surprised after reading “The Da Vinci Code in theaters worldwide on 19th may 2006” Opppps for me…(Hindi:kya ye C,C++,java ab theater me dikyayenge)

Then I moved to index page to find something interesting….there I found some chapter talking about “Mona Lisa”….Freak what the hell is this book called “code” talking about………… is that the reason of controversies J (book of code without a single line of code) :)

Microsoft switches to own online ad broker service and cuts former ad service - Yahoo's Overture - in bid to better compete with Google in massive online ad market.

Microsoft's launch of adCenter is part of the world's largest software maker's push to better compete with Internet rivals Google (Research) and Yahoo (Research) in a U.S. online advertising market estimated to be worth around $15 billion.

Advertisers bought pay-per-click ads on MSN search through Yahoo's Overture service until last year, but adCenter handled an increasing percentage of those transactions during testing in recent months.

AdCenter will be initially limited to paid search, but Microsoft envisions the service being a one-stop shop for online advertising across many of the company's software platforms including Xbox games and mobile phones.

OKey...........So With that in mind, what could Google go after?

Michael Cohen, director of research with Pacific American Securities, thinks Google should stick to do what it does best: search.

"Here's a company that has the ability to raise cash and do anything they want. But I think they'd be ill-served if they didn't stick to their core strategy," Cohen said.

To that end, Google is said to have recently bought the rights to new search technology that allows users to view answers to search queries without having to leave for another Web site.
Still, Google is clearly broadening its scope beyond search. Google once noted on a corporate Web page about its philosophy that it did not "do horoscopes, financial advice or chat." Yet, Google now does two of those three things. (We're still waiting for the Google horoscope beta.)
As such, Bill Tancer, general manager of global research with Hitwise, an Internet research firm, thinks Google needs to make more deals in social networking. He said Google's biggest threat will not come from search engines like Yahoo! (Research), Microsoft's (Research) MSN or IAC/Interactive's (Research) Ask.com but from MySpace, the social networking site owned by News Corp (Research).

"Google's core business is helping people consume information on the Web. As we see Google grow out its content offerings such as finance and maps, I think they'd have to make a serious play into more social and user-generated content," he said.
Google already has some presence in this area - web log tool Blogger, photo sharing software service Picasa and social networking site, Orkut, for example. But Tancer thinks Google needs to make an even bigger splash.

Google's ultimate goal is to be more competitive with Microsoft on several fronts, the company has a long way to go. Google had nearly 5,700 employees at the end of last year, up from about 3,000 at the end of 2004. Microsoft has about 61,000 workers worldwide.

There was a contest in to write a fictional story for 500 words max which wud start with the line "On a dark and foggy night, a small figure lay huddled on the railway tracks leading to the Bangalore station".....

Here it is.....

On a dark and foggy night, a small figure lay huddled on the railway tracks leading to the Bangalore station. At once I was held back to see someone in that position during midnight with no one around. With curiosity taking the front seat, I went near the body and tried to investigate it. There was blood all over the body which was lying face down. It seemed that a ruthless blow by the last train could have caused the end of this body which seemed to be that of a guy of around my age. Amidst the gory blood flow, I could see a folded white envelope which was fluttering in the midnight wind. Carefully I took the blood stained envelope and was surprised to see the phrase "appraisal letter" on it. With curiosity rising every moment, I wasted no time in opening the envelope to see if I can find some details about the dead guy. The tag around the body's neck and the jazzy appraisal cover gave me the hint that he might be a software engineer. I opened the envelope to find a shining paper on which the appraisal details where typed in flying coolers. Thunders broke into my ears and lightening struck my heart when I saw the appraisal amount of the dead guy!!!!! My God, it was not even, as much as the cost of the letter on which the appraisal details were printed.... My heart poured out for the guy and huge calls were heard inside my mind saying "no wonder, this guy died such a miserable death"... As a fellow worker in the same industry, I thought I should mourn for him for the sake of respect and stood there with a heavy heart thinking of the shock that he would have experienced when his manager had placed the appraisal letter in his hand. I am sure his heart would have stopped and eyes would have gone blank for few seconds looking at the near to nothing increment in his salary.

While I mourned for him, for a second my hands froze to see the employee's name in the appraisal letter... hey, what a strange co-incidence, this guy's name is same as mine, including the initials. This was interesting. With some mental strength, I turned the body upside down and found myself fainted for a second. The guy not only had my name, but also looked exactly like me. Same looks, same built, same name.... it was me who was dead there!!!!!!!! While I was lost in that shock, I felt someone patting on my shoulders. My heart stopped completely, I could not breathe and sprung in fear to see who was behind......... splash!!! Went the glass of water on my laptop screen as I came out of my wild dream to see my manager standing behind my chair patting on my shoulder saying, "wake up man? Come to meeting room number two. I have your appraisal letter ready"

Instead of all that hassle with guessing where to put breakpoints and the fear of typing "continue" one too many times......
What if you could simply go backwards to see what went wrong?
This is the essence of the "Omniscient Debugger"
-- it remembers everything that happened during the run of a program, and allows the programmer to "step backwards in time" to see what happened at any point of the program.
All variable values, all objects, all method calls, all exceptions are recorded and the programmer can now look at anything that happened at any time.

After Google Earth & Moon Its Time For Google Mars.........

My endless fascination with anything involving the exploration of mars, has been fed recently by the advent of Google Mars.

GOOGLE + NASA OOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooops....there is no limit.....
Generally we say there is no limit to THINK,
But with above combination I say there is no limit to IMPLEMENT.

You may remember when Google Moon was launched last July to commemorate the first lunar landing. Now, the same team which brought you Google Moon, Google Earth, and Google Local have launched Google Mars to commemorate the birth of Percival Lowell, an astronomer who was known for his interest in Mars and its canals.

The ability to "zoom in" on a piece of Mars, tantalizingly close, and sure to get closer as we get closer to the day an actual human lands there, appeals to a very basic part of who I am.

I still hope to see a human walking there during my lifetime.

The logistical challenge of building the Airbus A380, the world's biggest passenger jet, is every bit as awesome as the plane.

Start with a piece of equipment requiring millions of parts and complex technology. Add to that the aircraft's outsized dimensions -- about 50% more floor space than a Boeing 747 and a wingspan more than 10 meters longer.

Then, to make things really complicated, manufacture the wings in England, the tail in Germany, the fuselage in France and Spain -- and move these gargantuan pieces to yet another location to put them together.

Now Lookout the Interiors.....

The ultimate in luxury: The A380 is the ultimate in luxury. It has three decks: the top two for passengers and the lower one available for a medical centre, shopping or a fast-food franchise.
This is the Airbus design for a first-class bed. The aircraft will also have new features like spas, casinos, gyms, bedrooms, and duty-free shops. Some airlines also plan to fix staterooms with beds, showers, a water feature, a double-width staircase between decks, and luxurious, book-lined club-style bars.

More comfort than ever before: The A380 has bigger seats and more space between them.
It is also more fuel efficient -- burning 1.3 gallons per passenger per 100 miles, which the company says is comparable to the fuel economy of a small turbo-diesel car.
The A380 will fly on the busiest routes. Singapore Airlines will be the first to fly the A380 in mid-2006 on high-traffic routes, especially to London, New York, Tokyo and Sydney.

All aboard a jet plane! This is what an A380 library, a shopping kiosk, a communication center would look like.
The plane also has a fitness centre. Some airlines even plan to have a swimming pool on board and will also do away with the traditional trolley service during meal times and will have self-service food counters for its passengers.
The aircraft will have more space for in-flight sales and it could have a duty-free shop onboard.

A cut above the rest: The staircase that takes you from one deck to the other too is tastefully done. To date as many as 13 customers have made orders for 139 A380s. These include 11 airlines, one express cargo carrier (FedEx, 10 aircraft) and one leasing company (ILFC, 10 aircraft). The airlines include Emirates, (43 aircraft, plus 2 leased planes); Lufthansa (15 aircraft), Qantas (12 aircraft), Singapore Airlines (10 aircraft), Air France (10 aircraft), Virgin Atlantic (6 aircraft), Malaysia Airlines (6 aircraft), Thai Airlines (6 aircraft), Korean Air (5 aircraft), Etihad (4 aircraft) and Qatar Airways (2 aircraft).

Airbus is 80 per cent owned by European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co., a consortium formed in 2000 by France's Aerospatiale Matra, Germany's DaimlerChrysler Aerospace and Spain's Construcciones Aeronauticas SA. The rest is held by Britain's BAE Systems Inc. EADS has a dual leadership structure, with a French and a German as co-CEOs. Noël Forgeard is the company's CEO.

Why I know Google will do an office suite and a desktop OS in 2006....

Let's look at the facts:

1. 99.9% of Google revenue comes from Adsense. 2. Google search is not necessarily the most efficient carrier of Google Adsense (content based websites and applications are very good at carrying Adsense as well)
3. Google is doing projects like Google Pack, GTalk, Orkut, and GMail that have NOTHING to do with indexing the worlds data--these projects are all carriers for Adsense.
4. Google has built the largest grid computing networking in the world with hundreds of thousands of computers--extending this to a desktop OS would be a cake walk.
5. Google has hired folks who worked on Open Office.
6. GMail's WYSIWYG is 90% of Microsoft Word. Everyone and their brother is making web-based word processors and spreadsheets today.
7. Google is about to launch a calendar according to reports. That's a no brainer since they have contacts and email already.
8. Most folks are fine with web-based applications now. AJAX has made web-based email competitive with desktop email--case is closed on that issue.
9. Google's server network is the only one in existence that could handle a hosted office suite--GMAIL has proven that.
10. Google is getting involved in the light $100 laptop project--which is really close to the Google Desktop concept.
11. Bill Gates himself said that there will be a huge market for advertising-based software, and Microsoft is making a web-based version of Office a major priority.
12. Tech CEOs lie through their teeth all the time--they have to. Steve Jobs said that he would never make a video iPod for two years--then he did. I would task Eric's comments that they are not interested in making a desktop OS, Office Suite, etc. with a grain of salt. If they were interested--and i know they are--they would never tip their cards.

Now, I don't think Google will make a PC. I think Google will.... :)
